The initial idea of a multi-movement, suite-like, string quartet composition came
to me in the late Summer of 2019, while I was in Tashkent recording my two suites. I
wanted to write folk-like melodies, inspired by the ancient river Nile. In my conception, I
tried blending some traditional elements to accommodate the folk-like character I was
going after. It is a take on various traditional and folk elements.
Another fantasy idea of it, is that in thousands of years in the future, people
might be curious about how ancient Egyptian music might have sounded like, and then
they find this 21st-century faux rendition of it, and nothing else. So it is sort of a fantasy
proposition of how the distant past all blends together and time blur. Maybe the same
could be said about our age and time in relation to the far future?
